Hamlet
The WeΪrd Sisters celebrate this Canada Day by resurrecting everybody’s favourite Danish prince. Set in the heart of the hipster scene in East Vancouver, Hamlet’s new lease on life is made contingent on the onerous task of his successful direction of an all-Canadian production of Macbeth. The plot thickens, however, when the Fates demand that Hamlet use the same methods he used in The Mousetrap to dispel the political corruption of the Claudius-regime, to interrogate the newly elected Conservative majority government. Prime Minister Stephen Harper (often referred to as the “Claudius of Canada”) will soon find himself a little more than kin and less than blatantly treasonous in a production where political scandal and Canadian celebrities will dance hand-in-hand to the beat of skulls being thrown from the grave.
